Manufacture High-Strength, Lightweight Products in Complex Shapes
Fiberglass is used as a reinforcement material in the manufacturing of composite products. There are different types of fiberglass both in terms of composition as well as form. The composition of the fiberglass is important with regards to the end use of the manufactured product. The form of the fiberglass raw material is important with regards to the manufacturing process as well as the end product strength and dimension specifications.
Gelcoat is a material used to provide a high-quality finish on the visible surface of a fiber-reinforced composite material. Gelcoats come in different compositions that offer varying special properties based on the application (protection, fire-resistance, etc...).
Resin is used in the manufacturing of composite products, when the resin cures it give the final product its hardened finish. There are different types of resins both in terms of composition. The composition of the fiberglass is important with regards to the end use of the manufactured product as well as the workability during manufacturing.
There are a multitude of additives that can be used in the composites manufacturing processes to affect the workability of the raw materials and/or the properties of the finished product.
